1. Who We Are
GitaAstro (gitaastro.com) is a Vedic astrology platform that generates birth charts (Kundli) and provides AI-powered astrological interpretations. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” mean GitaAstro.

2. Data We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google OAuth. We do not receive or store your Google password.
2.2 Birth Details
To generate your astrological chart, we collect your date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth (including geographic coordinates and timezone). This data is provided by you voluntarily and is essential to the core service.
2.3 Computed Chart Data
We compute and store your astrological chart data, including planetary positions, house placements, dasha periods, yogas, divisional charts, and Ashtakavarga tables. This data is derived from your birth details using the Swiss Ephemeris engine.
2.4 AI Interaction Data
When you use AI Reading features, we store your questions and the AI-generated responses to provide a seamless conversation experience.
2.5 Payment Information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, we collect your UPI transaction ID for payment verification. We do not store bank account details, card numbers, or UPI PINs.
2.6 Usage Data
We maintain internal logs of feature usage (e.g., number of charts generated, AI readings used) for enforcing plan limits and improving the service. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking services.
2.7 Cookies
We use only strictly necessary session cookies managed by Supabase for authentication. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
3. How We Use Your Data
- Account & authentication: To create and manage your account.
- Chart generation: To compute accurate Vedic astrological charts using the Swiss Ephemeris engine.
- AI interpretations: Your computed chart data (planetary positions, not your name or contact details) is sent to the Anthropic Claude API to generate astrological readings.
- Daily guidance: To select relevant Bhagavad Gita verses based on your current transits.
- Compatibility analysis: To compute Ashtakoot matching when you use the compatibility feature.
- Subscription management: To verify payments and enforce plan limits.
- Service improvement: To understand usage patterns and improve features.
4. Third-Party Services

Anthropic’s API terms state that API inputs and outputs are not used for model training. Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy.
5. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with SSL-encrypted connections.
- Access to your charts is restricted to your authenticated account. Other users cannot view your data.
- We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), JWT-based authentication, and access control checks on all API endpoints.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data and saved charts for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data and saved charts within 30 days. Some anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent: You may stop using the service at any time. Deleting your account withdraws consent for future processing.
- Grievance redressal: Under Indian law (SPDI Rules), you may contact our Grievance Officer (details below) who will respond within 30 days.

8. Children’s Privacy
GitaAstro is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
9. Cross-Border Data Transfers
Your data may be processed and stored outside India (including in the United States and other regions where our infrastructure providers operate). By using GitaAstro, you consent to such transfers. We ensure that our service providers maintain appropriate data protection standards.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of GitaAstro after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made thereunder, the Grievance Officer for the purpose of this Privacy Policy is:
